FAQ
How often should I have a Massage?
A new injury or condition can often be resolved within a few treatment sessions. Chronic conditions will often require a series of treatments to return the area to normal function. This will usually include a number of weekly massages (usually three to four) and will gradually reduce in frequency until a maintenance stage is reached.
While everyone’s needs will be a little different depending on your lifestyle, regular massages work best. Ideally a maintenance massage should be performed on a regular monthly basis to promote mobility and improved function and to stop conditions from becoming problematic and painful.
Most musculo-skeletal problems are posture and work related.
Will I be sore after my massage?
During your massage you need to let me know if I need to adjust the pressure. You may be sore for a day or two if the muscles were very tight.
How Will I feel after massage therapy treatment?
Most people feel very relaxed and notice an overall improvement in their range of movement. You need to drink plenty of water after your massage as you can sometimes get a headache due to toxins that have been released from your muscles. I will ask you if you'd like a glass of filtered water after your massage.
When is a massage not helpful or contraindicated?
Generally, if you have a cold, flu, fever, inflammation, infectious disease, skin rashes, cuts or a thrombosis, massage is contraindicated.
Should I arrive earlier than my appointment time to fill out a Client Info Form?
No. Please arrive at your exact appointment time, as I allocate 10-20 minutes to the end of your appointment to allow time for consultation, changing and payment. I may still be with a previous client and do not have a waiting room. Just press the door bell button when you arrive.
How should a muscle injury be initially treated?
The injury should be rested and cold therapy should be applied as soon as possible and then regularly for the first 48 hours. Elevate the injury and apply a compression bandage or support to help reduce bleeding and swelling. An ice pack should be applied for 5 to 10 mins at a time on the injured site and then removed for 20 minutes. Do this several times a day to relieve pain and reduce swelling.
Do you provide clean towels for each client?
There are soft clean towels and bodywrap gowns (for women) provided for each client. Also the massage table face hole, arm rest and pens are cleaned and disinfected after each use. I provide a tranquil, clean and healthy environment.
Is there parking available?
Yes, you may park your car in the driveway or on Glen Abby Avenue.
