to another realm! This was

​Hot Stone Massage is a luxurious and deeply relaxing massage that originated in Hawaii and incorporates water heated basalt stones. The hot stones are used to massage your body along with swedish and lomi lomi massage techniques.  Stones are also used as placement stones to warm key points in your body. This is a divine treatment to have during the cooler months.

​The smooth basalt stones are rich in iron and magnesium, so they retain heat really well. Most hot stone massage treatments use 30 to 50 stones of different sizes and shapes. I have two sets of hot stones and two stone heaters. The stones are thoroughly cleaned and sanitised after each client. This type of massage is intensely relaxing and healing.

Hot stone massage is helpful for the following health conditions:

  • Back aches and pains

Contra-indications:
  • Any condition where there is a loss of sensation, including Neuropathy, Diabetes, Peripheral Vascular Disorder
  • Injury or trauma where nerves have been affected
  • Throughout Pregnancy (due to the rise in body temperature)
  • Children 
  • Anyone taking medication for pain
  • Psychotic conditions, Epilepsy
  • Any dysfunction of the nervous system
  • Anyone with depressed immune system, including Lupus, Epstein Barr, Mononucleosis, HIV/AIDS, Cancer, anyone on Chemotherapy or Radiation treatments
  • Sunburn, Psoriasis, Skin cancer, Burns, Dermatitis, Eczema, Acne, Shingles, Herpes, or any acute inflamed skin condition.

*6 hours notice is required so that I have the hot stone heaters switched on, ready for treatments.  I usually only use hot stones regularly in cooler months since most clients request this service then.
